Overview
Chemistry is the study of atoms, molecules, and materials, their properties, composition, and reactions, and how chemical processes work in industrial contexts and in the environment around us. The Chemistry Department SCU offers both theoretical and practical disciplines and provides the opportunity for an undergraduate student to obtain a thorough fundamental knowledge of all fields of chemistry.
There are lecture courses in the general areas of inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry, plus many more specialized courses including analytical, nuclear, biophysical chemistry, and chemical biology. Chemistry has traditionally been divided into organic (organic compounds - containing carbon and hydrogen) and inorganic chemistry (chemistry that is not related to organic molecules), but the boundaries between the disciplines are not clear these days.

Vision
The Chemistry Department at the Faculty of Science SCU aims to graduate distinguished cadres at both local and regional levels as well as to be houses of scientific consultancy.
Mission
The department aims to develop teaching and training programs to enhance the scientific skills of undergraduate students. It also grants different scientific degrees, such as Bachelor, diploma, master's, and doctorate of philosophy to serve and develop the Egyptian community in general and the Suez Canal and Sinai regional community in particular.
